Study Skills 12 - Period 4/8 in Library A
Study Skills is a class designed to help students improve learning effectiveness and motivation in their core academic classes. Students will learn strategies and techniques that lead to successful transitions including college and career readiness. There is a focus on time management and organization skills; note taking, test prep, and test taking strategies; textbook reading and goal planning. Students will learn how to analyze their personal data to predict learning outcomes. In addition, students will work in small groups or one-to-one with their Special Education Teachers to advocate for Individualized Education Plan (IEP) accommodations and to achieve their IEP Goals and Transition Plans.
In this course, we will be focusing on post-secondary goals and plans. We will be ensuring that we will meet all graduation requirements by the end of the year. This will include the college process, other post-secondary options, and career readiness. We will also be developing individual Exit Summaries that will be discussed during each student's Annual Review meeting.
