Hello, I'm Mrs. Tania Winthal and I'm one of the English as New Language (ENL) Teachers at Peekskill High School. I am a Manhattanville College graduate and have my bachelor's in Psychology and Spanish and my Master's in Professional Studies in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages. This is my second year here at Peekskill High School, but I have thirteen years of professional experience teaching ELLs/MLLs at the adult, college/university, and K-12 levels. As a Former ELL turned ENL Teacher, my commitment, passion, and dedication to bring positive results to my students are driven by my own experience of coming to a new country and having to learn a new language.
It is my belief that all students can attain personal and academic achievement and should be given the opportunity to develop into life-long leaders through a balanced education that addresses the needs of the individual, as well as the group. I am committed to providing a safe, learning environment that fosters mutual respect and collaboration while maintaining the highest expectations for others and myself. Ultimately, my goal as an educator is to ensure that my students’ needs and interests are being met and that they reach their full potential. I am eager to work with all members of the Peekskill community and form strong partnerships to ensure Peekskill High School students' success and well-being. Hola, soy la Sra. Tania Winthal y soy una de las Profesoras de Inglés como Nuevo Idioma (ENL) en Peekskill High School. Me gradué de Manhattanville College y tengo mi licenciatura en Psicología y Español y mi Maestría en Estudios Profesionales en la Enseñanza de Inglés para Hablantes de Otros Idiomas. Este es mi segundo año aquí en Peekskill High School, pero tengo trece años de experiencia profesional enseñando ELL / MLL en los niveles de adultos, colegios / universidades y K-12. Como una ex-estudiante de inglés y ahora maestra de ENL, mi compromiso, pasión y dedicación para brindar resultados positivos a mis estudiantes son impulsados por mi propia experiencia de venir a un nuevo país y tener que aprender un nuevo idioma.
Creo que todos los estudiantes pueden lograr logros personales y académicos y deben tener la oportunidad de convertirse en líderes de por vida a través de una educación equilibrada que aborde las necesidades del individuo, así como del grupo. Me comprometo a proporcionar un entorno de aprendizaje seguro que fomente el respeto mutuo y la colaboración al tiempo que mantengo las más altas expectativas para los demás y para mí. Al final, mi objetivo como educadora es asegurar que se satisfagan las necesidades e intereses de mis alumnos y que alcancen su máximo potencial.
