I grew up in the suburbs of Baltimore and Philadelphia, and I have always been interested in different languages and cultures and how people bring them to the United States and make our country more interesting. My husband was born in Germany and grew up in England, and my daughter was born in China.
Before I started teaching in Peekskill, I had many other jobs, including teaching English in Japan and writing for companies and community newspapers. This is my eighth year in the Peekskill City School District. I have also taught at all three elementary schools.
My goal is to support the acquisition of the English language through content-based instruction. In my classes, English Language Learners receive instruction in a small group setting with the aid of extra vocabulary support, background building and other ENL strategies. Our English Language Learners have a lot to teach us, and we are lucky to have them!
