• Grading Policy: 
     
     
    55% Rehearsals/Lessons: -Having all required supploes, attending all rehearsals, participating in performing
                                       -Attending all scheduled lessons (or making up missed ones) and being prepared to show the work practiced
     
    35% Concerts/Literacy Projects: -Literacy Based Projects (LBPs) Quarters 1 & 3
                                                -Concerts Quarters 2 & 4 (optional quarter 3 concert could replace LBP for grades 7 and 8)
     
    10% Citizenship: Showing good behavior and respect toward others during rehearsals and lessons
     
     
    Concert Dress: 

    ·       White shirt (No spaghetti straps, halter tops or tube tops.)

    ·       Black slacks/dress/pants skirt (Skirts must be below the knee.)

    ·       Dark shoes (No more than a 1 inch heel for safety)

    ·       Tie is optional but preferred

    No sweatshirt/sweatpants

     

    If you show up out of uniform, you will not be allowed to perform and will not receive a grade for that event and an integral part of our ensemble will be missing.

     
    Rules:
     
    1. Follow student handbook/PBIS rules and practice general good behavior and good manners at all times.
    2. Take care of your instrument and music and do the same for others.
    3. Come to class prepared with your instrument, music, and a pencil (no pens).
    4. You’re expected to be in the band room on time – if you’re not, you will be marked tardy.  After being tardy 3 times in one marking period, a call will be placed home. You will get a detention for every tardy after the third as well.
    5. You will stay inside the band room doors until dismissal time – you will not be let out early.  
    6. No food, drinks, or gum are allowed in the band area.  Water is allowed.
    7. Keep your instrument in its case (fully closed) and in your band locker when not in use.
    8. Practice rooms are for band work only.
    9. Keep the band room, lockers, and practice rooms clean.  If you move or uncover equipment replace it when you’re done.
    10. DO NOT TOUCH THE PERCUSSION INSTRUMENTS if you're not a percussionist.  You will receive an automatic detention if you do.
