Welcome to 8th grade social studies. My name is Owen Scully. I have been teaching in Peekskill for 23 years. It has been one of the most enjoyable journeys of my life. Before I was fortunate to find Peekskill, I was born and raised in Dublin, Ireland. Dublin was my home until I graduated High School and earned my ticket to New York on a soccer scholarship. After my undergraduate work, I was recruited to work for the Irish Government in the European Parliament in  Brussels, Belgium. Upon returning to the United States, I worked on numerious political campaigns while pursing a Master degree in education. My interests include many entrepreneurial endeavors particularly in organized sports activities . I have enjoyed and continue to enjoy many successful years as a soccer coach. I enjoy traveling, this gives me the opportunity to meet new people, embrace new cultures and explore new ideas. For me, this has always been a portal to expanding my personal horizons. Everyday I look forward to teaching, as it is an opportunity to open young minds to endless possibilities.
