Hillcrest Elementary School

The Hillcrest School Leadership Team is the primary vehicle for developing a true professional and collaborative culture focused on improving student literacy and reading. Much of the work that is being done on an ongoing basis is centered around the need areas that the district has identified: improving literacy, reducing the reading gap, improving and developing student character and acceptance qualities, providing an enriched program for all students and improving college acceptance and graduation rates.

 The SLT team (Principal, Literacy Leaders, ENL Leaders, Framework Coach, Reading Teachers) meets regularly to help shape the kind of school structure that supports a systemic approach to improving literacy and student learning and a summary of our School Learning Plan was presented to the Board of Education on December 1, 2015.
