• Peekskill City School District’s Dual Language Program serves over 400 children in Kindergarten through Fifth Grade.  Now in its tenth year, the Dual Language Program features bilingual classrooms and talented teachers who are able to facilitate student learning in all subjects using both English and Spanish. The Dual Language program’s primary objective is to produce students who are literate in two languages by pairing together native English-speaking and non-English speaking children together in one classroom. A second objective is to create an understanding and appreciation of cross-cultural differences.

The program demonstrates the effectiveness of having a culturally diverse program that celebrates the substantial power of combining students into a Dual Language program. And in addition to the benefit to the students, Dual Language schooling has also transformed the experiences of teachers, administrators, and parents into an inclusive and supportive community for all.  The Dual Language enrichment program is cultivating and enhancing the academic and social experiences of children from every part of the Peekskill City School District.
