As a parent/guardian, you have the right under federal law to request information about your child’s teacher, including:

• Whether the teacher is certified by New York State for the grade level and subject they teach.
• If the teacher is working under an emergency or provisional certification.
• The teacher’s college major and any advanced degrees earned.

Requests for this information may be directed to your school principal and will be addressed promptly.
