Frequently Asked Transportation Questions

  • You can call the transportation department from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm at (914) 739-0682 X 248

  • Please, be patient if the bus is late.  Unfortunately, we cannot call parents when buses are caught in traffic or slowed due to weather conditions.

  • Your child is eligible if your home is located within eligibility zones.

Grade K -1 students who live more than ½ mile from school are eligible.

Grade 2 - 5 students who live  more than 1 mile from school are eligible.

  • If you live outside the eligible zone, you are not eligible for busing. Mileage is determined by the address of the student, not by the bus stop. Unfortunately, no exceptions can be made.

  • Yes, if the child care provider is within the above eligibility zones.

  • Your home may be within the eligible boundaries for one school but not the other.

  • Yes, by law the District must provide transportation to private and parochial school students in the same grades that it buses its own students. The District buses students in grades K-5, so private and parochial school students in grades K-5 who live in the eligibility zones are eligible for transportation.

  • When conditions cause delays or building closures, announcements are made in several ways. Announcements are placed on the district website, on the districts’ social media and conveyed via the district's emergency messaging system.

Private School & Special Ed Out of District Transportation

Closures - In the event PCSD is closed there will be NO out-of-district Transportation.

Delays and Early Dismissals – All transportation to out-of-district locations will operate based on the PCSD delay/early dismissal schedule. For Example, if PCSD calls a 2 hour delay, all transportation will follow a 2 hour delay schedule even if the out-of-district school is operating on a normal schedule.

It is the responsibility of the parent to check their child’s out-of-district school schedule for closings and delays. Parents will receive a call from PCSD through the district's emergency messaging system regarding delays and closures for PCSD only.
