Woodside Elementary School recently held an elaborate celebratory assembly in honor of the Lunar New Year. Students in the Putnam | Northern Westchester BOCES' after-school Mandarin enrichment program performed songs they learned in the language.

 

PNW BOCES Chief Operating Officer Dr. James Ryan was in attendance to share in the celebration. He was happy to be back at Woodside, his alma mater, and spoke to the audience, expressing his passion for the Mandarin program.

 

BOCES Mandarin Language Program Facilitator Wendi Li said that an especially big hit was the lion dance performance by school teachers and administrators, and the Chinese drum and gongs performance by Mandarin teaching assistants and students.
