Oakside Welcomes Mrs. Crystal Hernandez as Acting Principal

The Peekskill City School District congratulates Mrs. Crystal Hernandez, who has been appointed to the position of Acting Principal of Oakside Elementary School.

Although Mrs. Hernandez is new to Oakside, she is not new to Peekskill. Mrs. Hernandez has served Peeksill for the past eight years in a variety of ways, most recently as the Assistant Principal of Hillcrest Elementary School. She is elated to join the Oakside team and to serve the Peekskill City School District in this new capacity. Mrs. Staci Woodley will continue to serve the building as Assistant Principal.

Mrs. Hernandez holds a bachelor's degree in Music Education from Five Towns College, a Master of Education in Language and Literacy from Lesley University, and a Master of Science in School Building Leadership from Mercy College. Her past experiences have afforded her the opportunity to work in administrative roles within a variety of grade levels. She has served as an instructional leader at Uriah Hill Early Childhood Center, Woodside Elementary School, and Hillcrest Elementary School. Due to this unique set of experiences, Mrs. Hernandez has a deep understanding of the expectations at the primary level, as well as a clear vantage point of what awaits the students when they leave Oakside and enter Hillcrest.

“I am thrilled to have the opportunity to partner with the Oakside staff and the families of Peekskill to provide an excellent education to our children.” said Mrs. Hernandez. “We will work diligently to foster an educational environment built on care, support, rigorous instruction, and of course, fun! Our students deserve only the best every day, all day.”
