Peekskill City School District Welcomes New Director of Multilingual Learners

The Peekskill City School District welcomes Ms. Madeline Sanchez as our new Director of Multilingual Learners. Ms. Sanchez will be responsible for aligning Multilingual Learner programs throughout the District. She brings with her an extensive and dynamic background in education, having previously served as an English as a new language teacher spanning Grades K-12, teaching at all grade levels. She has also served as a K-12 Instructional Coach for one of the largest school districts in Westchester County.

Ms. Sanchez holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Mercy College, a master’s degree in Education (TESOL-Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) from NYU and a master’s degree in Educational Leadership from The College of Saint Rose.

Since 2014, Ms. Sanchez has been an Adjunct Professor for Pace University’s School of Education where she teaches courses that relate to language acquisition and second language learning, as well as foundations of bilingual education. In addition, she has taught English as a new language to adults at Westchester Community College.

Ms. Sanchez is committed to advocating for parents and children; not only in her community, but also across the county. Currently, she sits on the Hispanic Advisory Board for the Westchester County Executive.

As a result of Ms. Sanchez’s passion and dedication to children, she has founded an organization for Latina girls which focuses on empowerment and motivation for their personal and academic success. She has served as keynote speaker and presenter at various events including Manhattanville's Changing Suburbs Institute, Girls World Expo and The National Association of Professional Women. Ms. Sanchez was also a contributing author in the book, One Size Does Not Fit All.

Ms. Sanchez considers herself to be a life-long learner who is excited to begin this new chapter in her educational career serving the Peekskill City School District.
