Peekskill City Schools Appoint Austin Goldberg as New Athletic Director
The Peekskill City School District welcomes Mr. Austin Goldberg, who has been appointed to the position of Director of Physical Education, Health and Athletics at Peekskill City School District. Goldberg will begin his new role on August 14, 2019.
Mr. Goldberg brings with him over 15 years of experience in education and athletics. He was born and raised on Long Island, and is a graduate of Comsewogue High School. Additionally, he is a former Division I College Athlete from the University of Hartford, where he played baseball. He spent 10 years in the East Ramapo Central School District. Mr. Goldberg was a teacher in the areas of Health, Physical Education and Adaptive Physical Education there, as well as an Athletic Coordinator. He was the Varsity Boys Basketball Coach, Varsity Volleyball Coach, as well as football, soccer, baseball and girls basketball coach at various levels in East Ramapo.
Mr. Goldberg comes to us from the Tuckahoe Union Free School District where he was their Director of Health, Physical Education, and Athletics. Throughout his tenure at Tuckahoe Union Free School District, Mr. Goldberg developed a strong, positive school and community climate. He had two different teams win the Section I Team Sportsmanship award. In his three years at Tuckahoe, he oversaw four Section championship teams, four State Regional semi-finalists, and started Tuckahoe’s first lacrosse program in school history. He also worked hand in hand with the student athletes, coordinating various fundraisers and philanthropies. Additionally, he partnered with the Parent Teacher Association to bring presentations on current issues facing young adults and athletes to the district.
Mr. Goldberg holds a Bachelors of Arts from The University of Hartford, a Masters in Physical Education from Adelphi University and obtained his administration post graduate degree in Education Leadership from Stony Brook University. He is a life-long learner who is proud to begin this new chapter of his education career here at Peekskill City School District.
