On Friday, March 15 teacher Mr. Alex Latorre took four PHS students to Times Square to visit one of Microsoft's NYC offices. The event was coordinated in conjunction with the company’s Blacks at Microsoft (BAM) program, and offered students the opportunity to interact with exciting tools and resources, while also learning about career opportunities available in technology. Throughout the day, Microsoft employees guided our students through hands-on technology labs and information sessions. They were able to meet and listen to employees and powerful guest speakers like Micah Brown, an Award Winning AI Engineer, and Web Developer Mouminatou Barry. Each speaker informed students about the wide variety of careers available in the technology and digital transformation fields.
Our students enjoyed this exciting opportunity and are looking forward to participating in a summer program at Microsoft and next year’s BAM event as well. Special thanks to Mr. Latorre for providing our students with this unique opportunity.
