The mission of the staff of Uriah Hill Elementary School is to provide a nurturing, developmentally appropriate learning environment that encourages each child to fully develop his/her individual potential in physical social, emotional, intellectual and moral/ethical issues.
Uriah Hill currently houses two full day classes and six half day classes. The full day classes run from 8:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. The morning half day sessions run from 8:30 a.m.-11:00 a.m. and the afternoon half day sessions run from 12:00 p.m.-2:30 p.m. As of December, 2013, we are proud to announce that we have received a grant from the New York State Department of Education which will allow us to open one additional full day class and expand two of our half day classes to full day.
The pre-kindergarten program is aligned with the Common Core Curriculum which the state has recently introduced. Our teachers work closely with the school’s director to plan a rich and engaging curriculum which challenges the minds of our young students.
Uriah Hill joins with other schools in the district to promote the character education of all of our students. Our school-wide program is the P.B.I.S model, which promotes and continually emphasizes the need for students to be safe, responsible and respectful. We are dedicated to instilling a foundation of good citizenship in all of our students.
Uriah Hill is a pre-kindergarten program which offers a standard of excellence in all areas. We encourage the partnership between teachers, students and families to ensure the success of every child.
